Christmas 2022 Concert & Fundraising

13 December 2022

Christmas Concert

With the pandemic a not-so-distant memory, and a sad farewell to our musical director of 15 years, Lee Dunleavy, 2022 comes to an end.

We finished the year with a fantastic Christmas concert Fanfares & Carols with our first speed date guest conductor, Chris Ouvry-Johns. Chris did an amazing job of coaching us for our Christmas programme, including 4 a cappella carols, as well as carols with the brass band and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, even if he didn’t wear his reindeer onesie for the performance. Big thanks also to our interim répétiteur, Adam Hollingsworth, for his superb piano work over the term.

Fundraising Events & Quiz

The concert was a huge success, and we even had a visit from Santa who made a special appearance in the audience for the Brass Band’s rendition of Santa Claus Trophobia.

To support the varied program of concerts through the year, the choir needs to be constantly fund raising. We have small events during rehearsals such as Raffles, Plant Sales, Bring and Buy and Cake Sales. This year we also ran a Reindeer Drive on Saturday 10th December, which was well supported despite clashing with the football quarter final. Huge thanks to Maureen Trent for organising this and Jennie Woods for leading the "catering" team. And, congratulations to Carolyn for winning both the Drive and the Raffle, and Rachel for the best Christmas jumper!

In December many people bought the Northampton Bach Choir Quiz 2022 sheet. 100 Cryptic clues to Puzzles and Games. We raised £306 and 12 entries had all the correct answers. Three names were drawn and the winners were:

• Carolyn and David Tristram
• Sue Tomalin
• Charlotte Hodge

If you bought a quiz sheet and would like a copy of the answers please contact the secretary through the contacts page. Thanks to all who took part and to Alison Barnes for creating the quiz.
