Back in the Summer of 2006 our Musical Director arrived in
Northampton, leaving his previous organist position at York Minster.
He took up the prestigious position of Director of Music at All
Saints’ Church, Northampton, which during his time had large and
separate choirs for boys, girls, men, and an adult choir. The choirs
sung as many as seven services each week, toured throughout the
world, made a number of five-star reviewed recordings, and
commissioned a number of choral works from the leading composers of
our day. Within a year of his arrival he had also been appointed as
the Northampton Bach Choir’s Musical Director. It is therefore most
fitting that his very final act with the choir before he begins his
studies as he progresses towards ordination to the sacred priesthood
in the Church of England, is to direct the Northampton Bach Choir at
All Saints for a service of Choral Evensong. The choir sing this service of Choral Evensong at the invitation of Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, James Saunders Watson Esq., and it will include the great anthem I was glad by Sir C. Hubert H. Parry (1848-1918) and the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis will be sung to the setting in B flat by Henry Smart (1813-79). Full details will be available nearer the date of the service, but all are welcome to attend - please be seated by 3.45pm. Programme:
