This stirring evening of Mozart opens with BBC Music Magazine's
'Rising Star' Alexandra Dariescu performing his Piano Concerto
No.21. One of his most popular piano concertos, with its most
atmospheric slow movement sandwiched by witty and marchlike
sections, Mozart premièred this piece himself. Mozart's masterpiece, his Requiem, will be conducted by Renato Balsadonna, Chorus Master from the Royal Opera House. Composed under mysterious circumstances, this is a work of intense drama and depth. Joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on stage to perform the Requiem is the Northampton Bach Choir.
