Britain’s leading choral composer and conductor, John Rutter CBE,
returns to Northampton!
This Come and Sing event sold out
very quickly, if you are lucky enough to have a place we will email
you with all the information you will need, but if you have any
questions please contact Jennie Woods by email:
rutterday@northamptonbachchoir.org.uk or telephone 07980 979657.
Here are the details of the day:
The venue is the Theatre (formerly Senior Hall) of Northampton High
School, Newport Pagnell Road, Northampton, NN4 6UU. (what3words:
sadly.shift.foal) Registration begins at 10am and the first singing
session is at 11am.
There is plenty of parking and you will be directed on arrival.
There are a few disabled spaces at the entrance to the hall so if
you need one of these please let us know in advance and tell the
parking attendant when you arrive.
Come through the main entrance to the Theatre where there will be
tables where you can register. There are no tickets, and it doesn’t
matter which line you join, we will just need your full name to tick
you off on the list. We have access to 2 classrooms where you can
leave coats and large bags but please do not leave valuables here.
After registration you will be directed to the dining hall where
refreshments will be available. You can then find your seat in the
main hall. We have around 350 singers booked for the day so please
fill every seat and don’t leave gaps. Members of NBC choir will be
there to direct you to your seats. Voice parts will be grouped
together and those who are less abled will be able to sit on a chair
at floor level. The first singing session will start promptly at
11am.
All the music for the day will be ready for you at your seat. The
music is on loan for the day and must be returned on exit, but you
can choose to pay for some or all of it during one of the breaks and
take it home. Recordings of John’s most popular works will also be
for sale and he will, of course, be on hand to sign them! We do not
yet know exactly what we will be singing. John will be directing us
to sing a mixture of choral music, old and new, familiar and
unfamiliar, as well as some of his carols and a selection of his
most recent compositions.
Tea, coffee, biscuits, water and juice are provided in the dining
hall on arrival, at lunchtime and at the afternoon break. The dining
hall is to the right of the main hall as you come in. There are
unisex toilets in the foyer area and more toilets through the dining
hall at the back of the stage.
Lunch break is between 12.45 and 2pm. Please bring a packed lunch
which you may eat in the dining hall. (There is a branch of Waitrose
nearby and a Dobbies Garden Centre if you forget your lunch!). There
is another break in the afternoon at 3.25pm where refreshments will
be provided in the dining hall.
The day finishes at 4:45pm - we hope you have a fabulous time.
This event is now sold out.
